The terms of using State of Prayers.

These are the terms of using State of Prayers ("the site"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

1. Who we are

State of Prayers is an independent project operated from the state of Louisiana, United States. It is a small public site, not a company, religious organization, or counseling service.

2. Who can use the site

You may use State of Prayers if:

  • You are at least 16 years old.
  • You agree to follow our Content Guidelines.
  • You agree to these terms.

If you are under 16, please don't post on the site. We may remove submissions that appear to come from users under 16.

3. What this site is and isn't

State of Prayers is not:

  • A crisis or counseling service.
  • A medical, mental health, legal, financial, or spiritual care provider.
  • A church, religious organization, or institution.
  • A platform for advertising, fundraising, or promotion.

If you are in crisis, please contact a real human resource. In the United States, you can call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Outside the United States, findahelpline.com lists options by country.

4. What you can post

You can post sincere prayer requests, follow-ups on your own prayers, and any honest moment of need or gratitude. You agree to follow the Content Guidelines posted on the site.

You retain ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant State of Prayers a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, search-index, and archive your submission for as long as the site operates. You can revoke this license at any time by deleting your prayer using the manage link or in-browser delete option.

5. What we can do with what you post

We can:

  • Display your prayer publicly on the wall.
  • Allow it to be indexed by search engines like Google. Once indexed, content may persist in third-party caches or archives even after you delete it from our site.
  • Hold submissions for human review before they appear.
  • Remove submissions that violate our Content Guidelines, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
  • Cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement or other authorities.

We will not:

  • Edit or rewrite your prayer. We may remove it, but we don't modify it.
  • Sell your prayer or use it for commercial purposes outside the site.
  • Train AI models on your content without your consent.

6. Account-less use

We do not offer accounts. Management of your own content happens through email links and browser tokens. We are not responsible for any inability to manage your content if you lose access to the email you provided or if you clear your browser data. Please keep your manage link safe if you want long-term ability to delete or update your prayer.

7. Donations

Donations to State of Prayers are voluntary gifts processed through a third-party service (currently Ko-fi). They are not tax-deductible. They are not refundable. They help cover the operating costs of running the site.

8. No warranty

State of Prayers is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee:

  • That the site will be available at any given time.
  • That submissions will appear within any specific timeframe.
  • That moderation will catch every violation, or that it won't occasionally make mistakes.
  • That the practice of prayer (in any form) will produce any particular outcome.

The site is a place to share and to carry. What happens beyond that is not within our promise to make.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of State of Prayers is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to emotional distress, financial loss, or harm caused by content posted by others.

If you are harmed by content on the site, please contact us at info@stateofprayers.com. We take this seriously, and we will respond.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of State of Prayers from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the site or your violation of these terms or applicable law.

11. Termination

We may remove your content or restrict your access to the site if you violate these terms or the Content Guidelines, at our sole discretion. You may stop using the site at any time and request deletion of your content.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Louisiana, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a resident of a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws (such as the European Union), those laws may also apply in addition to these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced on the site for a reasonable period before they take effect. Your continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
